In 1982, I began photographing buildings and streetscapes in Nova Scotia using a large format camera. Many of the pictures have been published in Historic Halifax and LANDMARKS: Historic Buildings of Nova Scotia - collaborations with the architectural historian Elizabeth Pacey.
The project was an opportunity to photograph in a more systematic way, to make pictures with less "me" and more "there", to learn a new (old) technology, and to pay back a debt to my adopted home.
The dropdown menu allows you to search by city or town. Clicking on a thumbnail changes the large image. The arrows scroll through additional photos from the selected location. Clicking on “Alvin Comiter” in the title bar will take you back to the home page where you can select other projects.
